Access Buffer

By default, the start and end times of the guest access code and the digital key are equal to the check-in and check-out times on the stay.

Access Buffer settings will override the start and end time of the guest access code or/ and the digital key meaning you can have the access code start working sooner and stop working later without changing the stay check-in/out time.

The Guest Checkout code will adhere to the Access buffer settings and will be functioning to
30 minutes from Access Buffer Checkout Time.

USE CASE(s):

• You own/ operate a hotel/ motel/ inn/ hostel. You want guests to have access to common areas like the lobby and amenities prior to their check-in and for the day of the checkout but not to their room.
• You have frequent requests for early check-in and late check-out but you don't wish to monetize these. You want to reduce the calls with this request. 
• Frequently guests forget something inside the room/ vacation home and you have to extend their check-out time to allow them temporary access back. Avoid manual work and set up an access buffer for check-out only.

The Process/ Checklist:

Step 1:	Go to Settings (gear icon on the top right)
Step 2:	Click on the Access settings Tab

Step 3:	The default access buffer is available to Super admin & admin roles only and not available to other staff even if they have the permission to modify the access buffer. Click the Edit button and change the default Check-in and/ or Check-out Buffer Time. This will change the access start and end time for all the locks across all properties.
Step 4:	You can apply the changes to Access Code or both Access code & Digital key.
	You cannot use the edit button for next 5 minutes after applying the access buffer settings.
	You can also apply the Access Buffer to individual locks or a specific list of locks. This setting is available to any other staff who has permission to change the access buffer settings. Example: You want guests to have access to the lobby door 5 hours prior to check-in and to the pool and gym 2 hours prior to check-in and 1 hour after they check out but the room door is available at the time of check-in only. Select locks from the locks list for whom you want to have different Access buffer settings from the default settings and make the respective changes.
Result:	Applied Changes will take effect.
